Uro-Vaxom® update: Forum on urinary tract infections organized by Sanofi Aventis in Geneva

Some 40 German medical specialists participated at the Uro-Alliances Forum 2007 organized by Sanofi Aventis on the 27th and 28th of October 2007 in Geneva.

During several scientific sessions, different opinion leaders highlighted recent data in urology. Among them, Prof. K. Naber (Technical University, Munich) presented the different management options for recurrent urinary tract infections, including short-term and/or low-dose antibiotic treatments and immunotherapy with Uro-Vaxom®. Prof. W. Bessler (University Clinic, Institute for Molecular Medicine and Cell Research, Freiburg im Brisgau) focused on the mechanism of action of this immunostimulating drug in urinary tract infections caused by Escherichia coli and other uropathogens, describing in particular the importance of toll-like receptors.

The physicians had the opportunity to discover how the immunostimulating drug Uro-Vaxom® is produced at the new biotech centre of OM PHARMA in Meyrin/Geneva.
